Travelling the world might be one of the most fun and exciting things you can do in life- but the actual travel part can be a bit tedious! In fact there are few things more mind numbingly boring than being sat in a car, on a bus, train or plane for hours on end while you wait to get to your destination. It's not like you can even lie down and relax, you're pretty much stuck upright in one spot! There are a few things you can do which can make your journey go quicker, here are a few ways to go about it.
GO TO SLEEP
If you're lucky enough to posses the ability to sleep while sitting upright then utilise it! It will make any journey go a whole lot quicker. Even if you don't think you'll be able to sleep it's worth trying, especially if it's a very long journey going through the night. Bring an eye mask, ear plugs and a neck pillow to avoid disturbances and keep you as comfortable as possible.
DOWNLOAD SOMETHING TO WATCH
Maybe there's a series you've been wanting to start but haven't had the time to start? A long journey is perfect for this, and once you're into it the hours will literally fly by. Alternatively you could download a few of your favourite films that you know you always enjoy watching, pop on your headphones and get lost in a world of your own.
READ
If you have enough concentration to get into a book, this can cause hours to whizz by. Research gripping reads and keep them for when you're on your journey, it's a great way to keep you occupied on a plane (although probably not the best for car journeys especially if you're prone to travel sickness). You could bring a few paperbacks in your hand luggage or even easier- a Kindle or tablet. If you don't have the concentration for book with things going on around you then magazines are a good choice. They give you some interesting content to sit and flick through and take your mind of the length of the journey.
PLAY A GAME
It could be on your phone, tablet, laptop or just an old school game. Anything from I spy to pen and paper games can occupy you and your travel companions for a while. You could invest in a hand held games machine and get into the fun little games on there which is sure to hold your attention for a couple of hours at least.
DO SOME WORK
Not the most exciting way to spend time, but since you're already going to be bored anyway might as well be productive! With a computer you can write, design, edit videos and so much more so there's plenty you can be getting on with. The change of scenery might even inspire some new ideas!
